Founded in 1921 by Sam Blackman as a small plumbing supply shop in New York City, Blackman has grown into one of the largest distributors in the North East. In addition to plumbing, Blackman also supplies a variety of Heating, HVAC, WaterWorks, Tools, Lighting, Tile, and Stone products. With 20 locations across Long Island, Manhattan, New York State, and New Jersey, Blackman is proud of its more than 90 years of service.

Blackman is often a name that comes up in the world of kitchen and bathroom redesign. They offer a stunning portfolio of beautiful items. Unfortunately - not really as a critique - there are too many tantalizing items. It helps to have a guiding hand when starting the concept phase. Dina Morgan Lotito was there for our family. While she is primarily located in Southampton she also visited us further west. My elderly parents were initially overwhelmed by the idea of in-home construction. Dina effortless shared her patience and put all of us at ease. It all started with a toilet. But then…well, gosh darn it, we wanted more. Dina's charm excitement spread like wildfire. I honestly thought we'd walk in, look at a few items and just buy something. But it turns out a toilet really is an important relationship in life. Her patience with my long winded parents really was quite something. (She even sent my parents a thank you note afterwards:) Once that happened the relationship was built. Blackman offers everything a person could possibly need to outfit a bathroom (or kitchen - we're not there yet). I was surprised to see lighting and tile available. (The diversity of product was jaw dropping tempting. While we briefly considered a chandelier the space does not allow it. My mother wants to move to fulfill this dream.) Dina is a visionary designer. Not just a sales person. Her ideas were well thought out, clearly documented and easily understood by other members of the construction team. Our questions were always followed up in a professional (but very charming) way. If you're considering Blackman I'd suggest reserving an appointment time. The design folks come in high demand during peak weekend hours.

Unfortunately our experience working with Blackman, Southampton was very disappointing. Last year we renovated 3 bathrooms, a job that was in the range of $20-$25K for material. We worked with three different sales people: one who helped us purchase vanities, sinks and faucets, a second who helped with wall and floor tile and then a third who we had to call to check on the order. We picked out what we wanted in early February and placed the order by mid-February. We were assured that our order would be ready for delivery by the end of March. Not hearing from our sales rep towards the end of March we assumed everything was on schedule. We eventually reached out to our sales rep, and it took several calls to get a return call, only to find out that no one at Blackman had followed up on our order. The biggest frustration was not getting return phone calls from anyone in several attempts to find out the status of our order. We called the store manager, who happened to be out to lunch at 2:45 in the afternoon, leaving a message for a return call that we never received. The order eventually came in, item by item, and wasn't completed until the end of May. Some items that we received were the wrong color and we even received a box of mostly broken floor tiles. Needless to say this added expense to the installation since the contractor could not complete the job in a normal way and had to re-mobilize several times. All of the frustration could have been avoided had a Blackman rep just let us know of the status. No one took ownership of the job at Blackman resulting in total lack of good management practices and exhibiting the poorest of project management skills. One last thing..Blackman demanded payment in full at the time we placed the order. Maybe that's where the system broke down.

We bought a Kohler devonshire tub from Blackman's Queens Village location. We worked with Christine and she was wonderful! Christine designed their beautiful showroom and showed us things in our budget and wasn't pushy like other places. She even offered ideas for the rest of the bathroom. I suggest you make time to go during a weekday as Saturdays can get very busy.

I've been referring my clients to Blackman plumbing for years. The desk and warehouse workers are always a pleasure to deal with, but recently showroom sales dropped the ball. I've been trying to get an answer for a very specific detail on a recent order that my client placed with Feddy at the Mineola show room. The response to my first e-mail was just two letters "no". My second e-mail was never answered. My third e-mail to operations got no response either. I guess after the sale you're on your own. I'm disappointment in the way I'm being ignored and the fact that the detail in questions should have been picked up when the order was placed. Up Date Nov 8, 2014: I appreciate the follow up reply and concern in this matter, and this experience is not going to end my relationship with a good company, Blackman Plumbing Supply. However it's unfortunate that I had to post for the world to see to get some sort of response. All I wanted was some input and advice from those who deal with these products on a daily bases so that I had more options to consider, if any. My business philosophy is principle before profits and I will do everything within reason to satisfy my clients. The detail in question will be corrected due to my teams' expertise in the remodeling field and the ability to solve problems. It will take more work but the end result will be worth the effort. I'm upgrading this review to three stars because I was acknowledged in this review, and giving my team 5 stars for for a great solution.

We are truly blessed to work with Grace Macedo at Blackman's Mineola location. We have 2 very different bathrooms. Grace mapped out amazing plans for both and then went into explaining all of the cool options. She found our sense of style and provided us with the ultimate set-ups. (She knows those product books in and out!!) Grace gave us priceless insight into function-ability sense and overall look. She found us exactly what we were looking for. Actually, everything that she showed us was more beautiful than what we envisioned. Grace is an expert with the patience of a saint and an awesome personality! Thank you so much Grace for making what we thought would be an overwhelming experience into an exciting one. There is no question that we would go back to see you Grace, time and time again. I went with my list of plumbing - bathrooms(2) and kitchen to their showroom in Southampton for my project in Florida which I was managing long-distance. I was given expert advice, cut-sheets for all subs, all items arrived in good condition. Lauren Regan even found the perfect claw-footed tub for the tiny second bathroom - now one of my favorite spaces in the house!
